Lily Goes to the Hospital
So, the first day in the jungle Lily developed a really bad sounding cough ... though no other real symptoms and we had some baby tylenol with us ... but this is what she looked like when we returned to Quito
... so we called our doctor who met us at the E.R. the next day (that is where you go in Ecuador instead of some sort of check-in or pre-appt). The service was great, but Lily had a miserable first day ... she definitely did not like the breathing treatments where they put a mask over her nose and mouse that releases whatever chemical steam is coming out ... and she definitely did not like having two nurses put the I.V. in her hand ... but the worst, was the mucus trap where they shoved a cathoder down her nose to deep down somewhere to get some phlem ... there was a lot of choking and screaming ... but afterwards she was champ ...
... now it could have been the drugs (alternating motrin and tylenol every two hours, including the night hours) ... or the millions of other things being pumped into her ... but despite her terrible cough, her high fever, and all of the things being done to her, she was still super mellow and smiley the entire time in the hospital ... she didn't even mind having a club hand that was useless ... she just started using her left for everything and never minded the useless arm
... and she proudly shows off her graduation from Hospital Metropolitano (she just got her I.V. out ... and the use of her right hand back)
